Please note that this is 4 days consecutive training running on the following dates: 31st October – 3rd November 2022.
The cost of the overall training will be £210.00 per person so please ensure you are available for all 4 days and that your study leave has been authorised prior as payment will need to be made early October once your place has been confirmed by us. The training is limited to 24 participants only
Presenters:
Wendy Murphy: A chartered physiotherapist, a member of the Health Care Professions Council, has a Master’s degree in Evidence Based Health Care from Oxford University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Professional Education from Oxford Brookes University
Pat Postill: Pat Postill is a specialist physiotherapist in the field of posture manemagement for those with complex disability. She is a state registered physiotherapist, has a Master of Science Degree in Posture Management, Oxford Brookes University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Profressional Education, Oxford Brookes University. She is a member of the Chartered Society for Physiotherapy
Aims and Objectives:
- Theoretical and applied sessions provide a background to posture management for people with complex physical disabilities. Management is essential to optimise remaining functional ability and minimise secondary complications associated with this client group.
- This course is suitable for allied health professionals, therapy assistants, healthcare scientists and nurses working in neurological and neuromuscular disability.
- This specialist field encompasses a wide range of issues. As new developments occur in the social, medical, and environmental paradigms, so the depth and complexity of knowledge and skills required to be able to adequately define and manage the therapeutic needs of the client group must expand.
- This is a short course, which can only provide an introduction to the issues pertaining to the physical management of children and adults who have profound and complex physical disability
Please Note: Each participant is to bring a yoga mat or equivalent, a pillow, a large bath towel and a small towel or blanket.
