We will be holding our next annual conference on the 10th June 2025 at the AJ Bell Stadium in Eccles. Unfortunately, there will be no YouTube livestream this year, only attendance in person.

The event includes both stroke and neurorehabilitation specialties and is open to professionals in health and social care and from other organisations such as the voluntary sector, industry and academia. We are also running our poster competition with prizes awarded in each category. There will be over 20 stands showcasing local charities as well as commercial organisations.

We have been awarded 4 CPD points for this event from the Royal College of Physicians.

You can download the programme as well as more information on the speakers.

During the conference there will be chance to breakout into workshops:

  1. Facial rehabilitation

The workshop will focus on raising awareness of facial weakness in stroke and neurorehabilitation patients. It will help attendees understand the prevalence, assessment, and recognition of facial weakness. Attendees will be invited to contribute to the development and reflection of practical solutions aimed at enhancing and supporting patient care.

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Understand the prevalence and clinical under-recognition of facial weakness
  • Critically review current assessment tools and their limitations.
  • Identify practical ways to improve the detection of facial weakness using patient-centred questions
  • Reflect on key patient-reported outcomes and their relevance to clinical assessment
  • Collaborate on strategies to enhance identification and support

2. Closing the gap in Cardiovascular Disease prevention

  • Understand Health Inequalities: Explore what health inequalities actually mean, their impact on stroke outcomes, patient experience, and healthcare provision
  • From Abstract to Practical: Move beyond abstract concepts with clear, practical frameworks to effectively tackle inequalities in stroke care
  • Systems Thinking: View healthcare through a systems lens, combining individual-level care with broader population health interventions to address inequities.
  • Data-Driven Approaches: Learn to identify unmet healthcare needs and gaps in stroke services using data and analytics.
  • Bring Your Experience: A collaborative space to discuss your own projects, reflections, experiences, or challenges, enabling peer-learning and practical problem-solving.
  • Actionable Frameworks: Leave the workshop equipped with practical tools, fresh ideas, and actionable strategies to improve equity and outcomes in stroke care.

3. Spasticity management

  • Presentation on managing spasticity by a local Neurorehabilitation Consultant
  • Overview of Greater Manchester Spasticity Toolkit including how to access and various documents/information accessible
  • Presentation on the role of a Non Medical Injector and their journey to qualification

This year we are having to levy a small charge to help cover costs at £50 per delegate which includes lunch and refreshments plus a certificate of attendance. We are able to offer payment via invoices for teams with 3 or more delegates or get in touch if paying is proving problematic.
