Health inequalities in stroke services in Greater Manchester – new report
We have been collaborating with the Stroke Association on a pilot project to better understand health inequalities in our life after stroke pathways in the North East sector of our region.
Stroke survivors and carers from Bury, Oldham, North Manchester and Rochdale were interviewed to hear their experiences, with a focus on learning about the barriers, especially from those who come from an ethnic minority background.
The findings clearly showed we need to do better at signposting and supporting people into our life after stroke services. We also need to ensure we share people’s preferred language and provide more culturally appropriate information to families.
You can view the report here and please get in touch with sarah.rickard@nca.nhs.uk if you want to discuss any aspects further.
