Patient and carer involvement update
You may be aware that Abi Bisset, who has been our PPI Co-ordinator for the last year, is finishing at the end of January. Unfortunately due to our ongoing funding uncertainty we haven’t been able to extend her contract. This has be done with a very heavy heart as Abi (and Deb Drinkall before her) have really helped us make a step change to ensure that the voices of those with lived experience are at the heart of what we do.
Their legacy includes:
- Helping grow a more robust, diverse and accessible Patient and Carer Group that is actively helping shape improvements within the network
- Developing new ways for those with lived experience to contribute outside of our Group
- Launching a PPI toolkit of resources to help the network and local teams to involve patient and carers more effectively and often in projects
- Training the network team to ensure PPI is included in as much of what we do as possible
We have revamped our patient and carer webpages to help share this information better, including the toolkit.
Abi recently recorded a webinar with the network team explaining this in more detail which may be helpful to review.
From 29th January, please direct all PPI enquiries to Debbie (deborah.o’halloran@nca.nhs.uk) and she will ensure they are shared as we have distributed Abi’s role amongst the network team.
