Network trainings needs analysis report published
At the end of 2025, we scoped the training needs of Greater Manchester stroke and neurorehabilitation teams to help shape our training programme and the support we provide in the coming year. The information has now been collated into a report which highlighted:
- Shared priority training areas: Sensory rehabilitation, Vestibular
rehabilitation, Functional electrical stimulation (FES) and pain management - Additional training topics
- The need for consistent, applied training across the system
rather than advanced specialist-level education - Substantial existing expertise within the system
- Baseline data on training impact was found to be limited and inconsistent, signalling a
need for improved evaluation frameworks
We are now using the information gathered in the report to develop our 2026 training offer. While the full programme is still being finalised, the topics we are planning to cover across the remainder of the year include:
- Visual impairment pathway
- Sensory rehabilitation
- Spasticity
- FES
- Cognitive rehabilitation
- Motivational interviewing and behavioural approaches
- Neurorehabilitation nursing/role clarity
- Complex pathways (including fatigue, FND and ataxia)
The scheduling of these sessions has not yet been confirmed and will be shared with teams as well as being published on our training webpage and via our X account. You can download the training needs analysis report here.
