Voluntary Services Directory

The Voluntary Services Directory provides information about services available in the Greater Manchester Area. These services are generally provided by the voluntary sector or local authorities and augment, complement or follow on from care provided by the NHS. Availability of services may vary in different areas and some services may be applicable to certain conditions or be relevant for all.

If you would like details of your organisation to be included in our directory, please click here. If you identify any errors within the directory we would be grateful if you could highlight them to our administrator.

Our user guide explains how to use the tool, which works best in a Chrome browser.

Select “Generic” within the specialties category below if you would like to include services that are not condition specific.

To access services, please contact the MSA Trust on the phone number above
The most local support groups are located in Bolton and Knutsford and the groups are open to anyone in the surrounding areas.
Support groups last for 2 hours and aim to link people with MSA and their carers, relatives, friends and interested health and social care professionals. It offers a forum for discussion, support and information and to raise awareness locally about MSA and problems associated with the condition.
The groups often have speakers (physio, speech and language therapist etc) who do a presentation to help people with symptoms. After this people get an opportunity to speak to the MSA Nurse Specialist and other members of the group to speak about any issues personally affecting them and any services they have found helpful.
The MSA Nurse for this area is Katie Rigg and she also offers a phone and email helpline phone: 01434 381932 or email: Katie.rigg@msatrust.org.uk

Disability services have specially trained staff who can support individuals and carers by providing specialist assessments. This service aims to maintain people in their homes and help them remain as self-reliant as possible. If you have a disability, the Equipment and Adaptations team can offer an assessment to identify equipment or adaptations which make it easier for you to continue living independently in your own home. If you are assessed as requiring a piece of equipment then they will deliver and install the equipment in your home. They also make recommendations for major alterations to your home and planning for them. All the help offered is based on individual needs, and the service is available to people of all ages.
