Voluntary Services Directory

The Voluntary Services Directory provides information about services available in the Greater Manchester Area. These services are generally provided by the voluntary sector or local authorities and augment, complement or follow on from care provided by the NHS. Availability of services may vary in different areas and some services may be applicable to certain conditions or be relevant for all.

If you would like details of your organisation to be included in our directory, please click here. If you identify any errors within the directory we would be grateful if you could highlight them to our administrator.

Our user guide explains how to use the tool, which works best in a Chrome browser.

Select “Generic” within the specialties category below if you would like to include services that are not condition specific.

At Back Up we know a spinal cord injury can be devastating, but we believe that it shouldn't prevent anyone from getting the most out of life. Driven by the needs of people with spinal cord injury, we are passionate about transforming lives. We deliver services that build confidence and independence and offer a supportive network. Another section we believe is vital for people with a Spinal Cord Injury to be able to reintegrate back into society is being able to use transport. Whether confidence is given through the experience of our mentoring team or our peer support group, or practical skills are put to use in our City Skills courses and Wheelchair Skills training – transport usage after an injury is a key element of some of our services. Our courses services provide a range of exercise and leisure – whether through arts, crafts and horticulture, ski karting, our multi activity courses and a further variety of choices – exercise and leisure is a forefront of our courses services. Through challenge and fun we open up possibilities to develop, achieve and get the most out of life for our participants. Our whole organisation is built on the commitment and experience of our excellent peers and volunteers. One of our courses - Back Up to work - also focuses solely on employment after an SCI. This course is not about finding a job exclusively, but is about equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence needed to work towards employment goals. We offer tailored one-to-one support post-course based participants goals and aspirations.
