Samaritans took its first call over 40 years ago . The service is needed as much today as it was all those years ago, as a listening ear for our local community, with ordinary people supporting those struggling to cope, round the clock, every single day of the year.

Largest range of adapted cycles in the region which are available for use by disabled people of all ages. It is a safe area for groups and individuals to enjoy cycling and fully trained staff are on hand to provide instruction if necessary on how to use the bikes and free taster sessions can be arranged.

Offer free, confidential advice and support for people who want to give up smoking. There are a variety of ways to access the service including drop in clinics, one-to-one appointments, group sessions and, where necessary, home visits.

Offers specialist drug and alcohol advice, support and treatment to adults aged over 18 who are experiencing problems with or want to decrease or stop their drug and alcohol use.

Royal Voluntary Service can help older people maintain their independence and stay involved in the local community. We have volunteers across Manchester who offer help and support so older people can stay independent at home. We offer a Good Neighbours service to older people who might be lonely and isolated.

Rochdale Young Carers Service is a support service for 5 to 18 year olds who are caring for, or helping to care for, a parent or relative with an illness or disability and their families. The Rochdale Young Carers Service can; visit families at home to discuss their situation, carry out a young carers assessment to help us work out together what support is needed, advocate on behalf of the young carer and their family, provide confidential counselling, provide group and individual work with children, provide activity sessions with young people to give them a break and have fun.

They provide information and support, campaign to improve policy and attitudes and in partnership with independent local Mind associations, develop local services. We do all this to make it possible for people who experience mental distress to live full lives and play their full part in society.

What happens when you call the bureau
You will speak with an assessor who will identify the most appropriaate way for us to help you. This could be giving you the information you need to solve the problem yourself. Or it could be making an appointment to discuss your problem further - in person or by phone. Sometimes, we might direct you to a different organisation that is better placed to help you.

Mental Health and well being charity

Gtr Mcr Neuro Alliance works to support people living with neuro through its online and social media services, events and workshops. Signposting to information including health, social care, benefits and advocacy. Fighting for neuro - campaigning for change.

Work with service users to identify individual skills and strengths and then match these with a prospective employer. For residents from Rochdale, Heywood, Middleton and Manchester aged between 18-65 with a learning disability, a diagnosed mental health condition and or physical or sensory impairment. Services Offered to Individual; assessment to identify individual needs, information, advice and vocational guidance, work preparation coaching, interview techniques and coaching, on the job training, ongoing support and mentoring, volunteering opportunities.

Physical Activity Referral in Stockport (PARiS) is the GP Exercise Referral scheme in Stockport, designed to help patients with moderate medical conditions become and stay more physically active, whilst benefiting and or improving their health. A joint partnership between Life Leisure and NHS Stockport, the scheme is delivered by a strong and experienced team of health and exercise professionals, who provide guidance, support and
pathways towards health improvement.

Pensioners Link we want to enable older people to reach their full potential and enjoy a healthy, active and sociable life. We exist to provide a Hub with as much emphasis on community and peer support as it has on professional expertise. Our Hub has all the necessary information and advice for people to remain independent, with extra support if your circumstances change as a result of illness, bereavement or any other aspect of ageing.

Counselling an Advice services.

The Patient Advice Liaison Service (PALS) is Bury's free health information and advice service. Up to date information is available about local NHS health services including GP's, dentists, opticians, pharmacists, community nursing etc. as well as information on health conditions and a database of organisations who can offer support.
PALS is here to help NHS Bury to learn from patient's experiences of health services out in the community. You can also tell us about your experience of using these services and we will pass this on, ensuring patient confidentiality if required. PALS will listen to any concerns, queries or suggestions that you may have and help to sort out problems quickly on your behalf.
